ScotlandsPeople.gov.uk is a PayAsYouGo e-commerce site operated by brightsolid as a partnership between the National Records of Scotland (NRS) and the Court of the Lord Lyon. It allows users to search and obtain genealogical information about their Scottish heritage. The site allows searches of 50 million names, has more than 30 million images and over one million registered customers.
ScotlandsPeople was launched in September 2002. In September 2010 the site was re-launched following the award of a new contract to brightsolid. The new site had a host of new features including advanced searching, a mapping of results facility, including additional Catholic Parish Registers data sets.
Records date from 1538 and also include Old Parish Registers, Statutory Births, Marriages and Deaths to 2009, Wills & Testaments, Coats of Arms and Scottish Census records from 1841-1911.
