ATLAS

Project ATLAS (“Accessing Telecoms Links Across Scotland”) is a strategic investment in telecommunications infrastructure funded by Scottish Enterprise that provides businesses access to high bandwidth e-Business services using fibre optic cable. This high quality infrastructure will improve access to affordable, advanced access and telecoms services on specific business parks, and help establish Scotland as a world-class e-business environment.

ATLAS provides the passive optical fibre infrastructure needed to deliver advanced access and telecoms services.  This infrastructure is owned by Scottish Enterprise through a wholly owned subsidiary, Atlasconnect Limited, and is marketed, operated and maintained by ATKINS on its behalf.

brightsolid provides services to six business parks across Scotland:

  • Aberdeen Science and Technology Park, Aberdeen
  • Crichton Campus, Dumfries
  • Dundee Technology Park, Dundee
  • Heriot-Watt Research Park, Riccarton, West Lothian
  • Strathclyde Business Park, Bellshill, North Lanarkshire
  • West of Scotland Science Park, Glasgow

brightsolid offer a unique service with a guaranteed bandwidth service ranging from 1Mb to 10Mb.  A unique feature of the brightsolid service is the provision of a ‘free of charge’ burstable service.  For example, if a client requires a guaranteed committed data rate of 2Mb, they only pay for 2Mb and yet are able to burst up to 10Mb on demand at no extra charge.  The burst feature is contended with other existing clients in the same business park.  The usage of the burst feature is policed and monitored to ensure the integrity of the service
