A solid 2016 at brightsolid

23rd December 2016 Posted in cloud hosting

2016 has been a fantastic year for the brightsolid family. As a high growth business, we’re constantly being refreshed by changes and enhancements. These new developments have defined our year.

Our 2016 milestones include:

New Starts

The brightsolid team has been expanding this year! In our Dundee office, our commercial team has seen a large expansion with the addition of Neil Campbell, Paul Bennett and Andrew Bond. Our Project Management team has benefited from the skills of Lisa O’Hare transferring from Find My Past. Internally, Claire Beattie has been promoted to the Networking team after showing drive and determination on a secondment. Pam Short has returned after working for some time at DC Thomson head office and Chris McGowan has been a welcome addition to our Service Desk Team.

Our Aberdeen team is growing too. Jordan Cormack is our new friendly face on reception, while Will Gibb brings his technical expertise to brightsolid as Systems Engineer.

New Innovations

Our emerging technologies team has been working hard to make sure that brightsolid is at the cutting edge of the market.

This year, we were delighted to announce a world first for brightsolid. Working closely with Microsoft, brightsolid managed to create a production ready environment of Windows Server 2016 to host Shielded VMs and Storage replica.

This is a game-changer in terms of cloud security, allowing the customer to have more control over their data than ever before.

New Audiences

We’ve had the pleasure of sharing our knowledge at a range of conferences.

Kenny Lowe spoke at this year’s Ignite– Microsoft’s own showcase conference, the biggest of its kind in the world.

At this year’s Oil and Gas ICT Leader, our CEO Richard Higgs opened the conference, calling for collaboration within the industry.

New Partnerships

In June, we announced a partnership with fellow data centre provider DataVita, addressing a need for communications and cloud accessibility for customers on the west coast.

We were granted “preferred partner” status, by Dell, for which we are extremely grateful.

In 2017, Neil Campbell’s previous experience of managing business relationships will prove exceptionally helpful as he helps aligns our goals with the partners that make our business possible.

A new service

2017 will see the official launch of solidinsights– a new data analytics consultancy, with the mission of making your organisation’s data meaningful.

We’re passionate about improving knowledge about data. This project is incredibly exciting and essential for businesses to reach the full peaks of their potential.

Still going strong

No matter how much change brightsolid undergoes, we have and always will be committed to our mission of delivering technical innovation with a personal service.

Craig Dalrymple remains the only Veeam Vanguard in Scotland, our Aberdeen Data Centre remains the only Tier III premium facility in the north east of Scotland and once again, brightsolid has shown steady growth.

Thanks to everyone who’s made 2016 such a special year! We can’t wait to see what new things 2017 brings. What are your 2017 goals and how can brightsolid help you? Email Perhaps your new year’s resolution is to move to cloud. For the benefits of cloud, see our infographic.
