Improvement Service scales up with Brightsolid Enterprise Cloud

Brightsolid, the Scottish cloud solutions company, has been awarded a new contract to migrate services operated and managed by the Improvement Service, the national improvement service for local government in Scotland, onto the next generation of the cloud.

From August 2018, Brightsolid will support the organisation’s cloud transition, enabling the Improvement Service to minimise disruption to existing customers, exploit new technologies and innovate in the delivery of public services, with the flexibility and scalability offered by enterprise cloud capability.

The two organisations have worked together since 2013, with Brightsolid providing a dedicated IT infrastructure and hosting service to the Improvement Service over the past five years. The organisation now plans to migrate from this infrastructure by taking a ‘cloud-first’ approach.

Brightsolid recently strengthened its solutions offerings and restructured its business to meet the changing needs of clients as the technology market increasingly shifts towards cloud computing.  According to industry research, by 2019, around 80% of IT budgets will be dedicated to cloud technology.

Malcolm Smith, chief sales officer at Brightsolid, said: “Throughout our working relationship with the Improvement Service, we have supported the organisation’s requirements with a dedicated hosting service and IT infrastructure. However, the client now wants to consolidate and develop its platform for digital services and broader portfolio and migrate to the next generation of cloud. This will provide them with much more flexibility and the capacity to provide their customers, and the customers of their partners, with innovative, streamlined citizen-centric services.”

Cameron Walker, Head of Operations (myaccount) at the Improvement Service, said: “We value our reputation as a competent and trusted provider of multiple award-winning services, and we value the role Brightsolid’s played in this success.  An enterprise cloud capability will bring us added flexibility and even wider benefits, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration with Brightsolid as we plan to introduce new capabilities and enhancements on the back of a rock-solid hosting service and infrastructure.”
