Lord Provost Officially Opens our Aberdeen Data Centre

brightsolid was delighted to officially open our Aberdeen Data Centre at Lang Stracht on Thursday 1st of October in front of customers, partners and members of the Aberdeen business community.

The launch marked an accumulation of nine months hard work by the brightsolid team and we were delighted to have the Lord Provost of Aberdeen on hand to officially open the facility.

His speech outlined his hopes and ambitions for brightsolid, the Data Centre and Aberdeen as a whole:

Thank you for inviting me to be part of this significant event – the Official Opening of brightsolid’s new data centre.

As we’ve heard, it’s a significant project for DC Thomson; it’s significant for our city and significant for Scotland.

When this opening is seen against the current backdrop of a lower Oil price – it’s good to have this very good news. And as we look ahead to our city’s future as a Global Energy city this is very good news indeed.

As we keep hearing and as we keep saying:  Our future – as a city lies in innovation, new technology and working globally.  This new Data Centre links to all of those.

The Oil & Gas industry is a one of the most data-intensive industries. It lives on data.  This enterprise is a perfect fit now and in the years ahead as we work together to retain a significant place in the Oil & Gas business.

Of course, our city is about more than Oil & Gas and brightsolid works across the public and private sectors – working with innovative, forward-looking, businesses of all sizes and in all types of services, across all sectors.

This facility creates opportunities of all who want (or need to be) part of it.

I’m delighted to be given the honour of officially declaring the brightsolid Data Centre open.

I’d like to add my thanks to all the partner companies and all those individuals who have worked very hard to get to this point today.

Thank you and congratulations to you all.

On behalf of the City of Aberdeen I would like to wish brightsolid a Bright and Solid future.”
