Brightsolid, the Scottish managed hybrid cloud services company, has appointed Dr Pete Cridland as Head of Cloud Enablement to further accelerate its strategy shift towards providing managed hybrid cloud offerings.
Company appoints new CTO to accelerate strategy shift in providing hybrid cloud managed services offering
Brightsolid, the Scottish cloud solutions company, has announced that it is to broaden its go-to-market strategy to provide hybrid cloud managed services.
As part of the strategy evolution, Brightsolid will take steps to move beyond being known for its hosting and colocation capabilities to offer consulting and managed services for hybrid cloud environments – including a mix of public cloud, private cloud and colocation.
Over the last two decades, the organisation has worked closely with its customers to become a trusted partner in delivering end-to-end IT transformation and moving forward, the company plans to continue this through the added capability of supporting its customers by designing cloud environments that offer them the flexibility to innovate.
To make this a reality, Brightsolid has appointed Jon Gasparini as chief technology officer. Jon joins the company with over 20-years’ experience and most recently was head of cloud engineering for Tesco Bank. Prior to this, he worked with PA Consulting and Cloudreach where he played an integral role in scaling the organisation globally through a partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS). In his role as Brightsolid CTO, Jon will work closely with CEO, Elaine Maddison and the senior leadership team to shape the new company strategy and solidify Brightsolid’s hybrid cloud offering in addition to extending the company’s partnership with AWS.
Elaine Maddison, chief executive officer at Brightsolid, said: “I am absolutely delighted to welcome Jon to Brightsolid. We believe that from next year, the adoption of the hybrid cloud will grow significantly amongst Scottish businesses. This will happen as organisations increasingly realise the benefits they can gain across cost, efficiency and flexibility by using the right cloud for the right workload.
“The number of organisations moving to the cloud accelerates each year, with public and hybrid cloud becoming more mainstream, and this provides an opportunity that we want to take full advantage of. This will mean that we can offer clients the benefit of our cloud experience whilst providing organisations with stability and security throughout any transition. As we shift our focus to offer public and hybrid cloud services, it is our goal to be recognised as the leading hybrid cloud managed services provider in Scotland. Jon’s appointment is a real coup for the organisation and we are excited about how he will help to shape the future for both Brightsolid and our customers.”
Jon added: “Cloud has become the new norm across all organisations and sectors. Key drivers typically include enabling a digital transformation agenda, providing improved business insight from an explosion in data volumes, faster time to market for new services, increased flexibility to scale services to meet peaks in demand and improved resilience and security.”
“This is an exciting time to be joining Brightsolid and I’m looking forward to developing a strong hybrid cloud offering that gives our customers access to the right mix of private and public cloud services. I also recognise that we need to help our customers navigate the complexity and address key concerns associated with the adoption of cloud-based services. Through our hybrid cloud offering we can help our customers develop their cloud strategy and roadmap, design and build new hybrid cloud services, continually optimise cloud spend and most importantly ensure robust security and compliance controls are embedded from the outset.”
Brightsolid is already part of the AWS Consulting Partner Network and will continue to significantly invest in upskilling its staff in AWS capabilities over the next three years to deliver relevant services.
