Brightsolid, the Scottish colocation and cloud solutions company, has appointed a Chief Sales Officer to lead the delivery of a revitalised strategy for the company’s sales force.

Malcolm Smith, previously Head of Sales, has been promoted to the newly created role and will be responsible for co-ordination, functional management and strategic leadership of all Brightsolid sales initiatives.  Malcolm, who has been with Brightsolid for almost 13 years, has over 20 years’ experience in the technology industry in Scotland.

Brightsolid has recently strengthened its solutions offerings and restructured its business to meet the changing needs of clients as the technology market increasingly shifts towards cloud computing.  According to industry research, by 2019, around 80% of IT budgets will be dedicated to cloud technology.  Brightsolid’s renewed focus will be on selling colocation and managed cloud services, working collaboratively with clients to identify their IT needs and delivering bespoke, end-to-end solutions, including transitioning to the cloud.

The strategic changes have been driven by the company’s new Chief Executive, Elaine Van Der Berg.

Elaine said: “Our industry is moving at an unprecedented pace and to thrive in these exhilarating times, we need to evolve our approach as a business. In order to drive digital transformation, many businesses will have to revise their data hosting strategies within the next four years, representing a huge opportunity for us.  Malcolm’s promotion to lead our revitalised sales force puts us on a more market aligned, strategic footing, meaning we are in excellent shape to take our clients on such a critical path.”

Malcolm’s priorities in the new role include supporting and contributing to the new Brightsolid business strategy and strengthening the sales team capacity with two new appointments.

Malcolm Smith said: “Cloud computing is driving transformational change in organisations, so it is a really exciting time to take on this challenging role.  Our new leadership structure and strategic approach has made this promotion a highly attractive opportunity for me.  We are moving forward with renewed focus and an improved delivery model, which means we will be doing more of the right type of business, more effectively.  Coupled with our product and service offering, we are uniquely placed to help organisations achieve digitisation in a flexible and cost-effective way.”
